Laplae - The small town of Laplae, which literally means "mysterious city", is only five kilometers from Uttaradit. Especially for tourists who are interested in agriculture, culture and history, the district is definitely worth for a visit. For one thing, the city is famous for its hand-woven fabrics and its brooms made from Tong-Kong grass, but also because of the particularly tasty Durian and Langsat fruits grown in the area. During the harvest season, these fruits are particularly cheap.

Wat Phra Thaen Sila At is a 3rd grade royal temple. The main place of worship is a laterite seat, the base of which is decorated with a golden lotus flower pattern. It is believed to date from the Sukhothai era and was made according to a legend that the Bodhisattva, one of the Buddha's earlier incarnations, was said to have sat there meditating. The former temple burned down in 1908, only the stone seat survived. The temple was rebuilt on behalf of King Rama V. (Chulalongkorn).
