Uttaradit, literally the gateway to the north, is the capital of the province of the same name, halfway between Bangkok and the well-known tourist destinations of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in northern Thailand.
The province of Uttaradit covers an area of 7,838 square kilometers, which is characterized in particular by the wide plain of the Nan River, which contributes to a certain monotony of the environment. The province is divided into 9 districts: Uttaradit, Tron, Tha Fla, Nam Pat, Fak Tha, Phichai, Laplae, Ban Khok and Thon Saen Khun.
